Borussia Dortmund FC will host SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga 19h-tour match at Signal Iduna Park Stadium. The fixture will take place on Saturday, February 4, beginning at 20:00 IST.

What can we expect this Saturday night? Parimatch News will tell you everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming match.

Borussia Dortmund News & Current Form:

Borussia continue to gain momentum with each match and are reaching their peak condition, based on the quality of recent soccer. In the opening round after the break Edin Terzic’s team let FC Augsburg (4:3) take a lot of liberties at their goal, then there were no such lapses afterwards.

The team won all three last games, advancing to the top-4. The competition in the leading group is tight, the gap from first place is only three points. In the last round the Black and Yellows managed to beat FC Bayern Munich away with a score of 2-0. The team’s successful game can be explained by the fact that there are not so many injuries, only two staffing losses. At this rate, one can even aim for the championship, taking into account Bayern’s not the best form. Borussia forward Karim Adeyemi opened the scoring on 33 minutes. For the German national team player it was his debut goal in the Bundesliga. He was assisted by Julian Brandt. In the 53rd minute Bayer’s defender Edmond Tapsoba scored a goal to his own net.

The Bees’ confident performance against Mainz FC (2-1) and a tough Bayern away game made it clear that Dortmund are determined to challenge the top of the table, from which they are only three points behind. Marco Reus has recovered from his injury and is ready to take the field, which will only give confidence to his partners.

Before the start of the 19th round, Borussia was in fourth place, ahead of Freiburg on goal difference and Eintracht Frankfurt FC on two points. The gap from Bayern is three points, given the recent statistics of Munich, Borussia may well be in the fight for the title this season. The players have scored 19 goals and conceded eight.

Dortmund was no exception and took advantage of the transfer window. The club received the services of fullback Julian Ryerson. The Norwegian joined the team from the start, played three games in the starting lineup and had already scored a goal against Mainz.

Also, the young Belgian winger Julien Duranville who previously played for RSC Anderlecht also joined the team.

Julien is finishing the recovery process from a muscle injury suffered in the fall, he is considered one of the brightest talents of his age. At 16 years and 5 days he made his debut for Anderlecht, in the current season Duranville has already played six games in the Belgian league and in early September he scored his first goal.

Thorgan Hazard, who was plagued by numerous injuries, is leaving Borussia. The Belgian has not played much recently and so it is not considered a loss.

SC Freiburg News & Current Form:

Fighting for the top 4 is already a success for Freiburg, but it is very difficult to keep up with the leaders. It can be seen that the team is gradually losing ground, although so far it is fifth in the championship, behind the fourth place only in additional indicators. Freiburg after the break was defeated on the road by VFL Wolfsburg (0:6), drew (1:1) with Eintracht at home and also defeated Augsburg at home with the score (3:1), returning to the top five of the table. In the last match Ritsu Doan, Nicolas Hofler and Philipp Lienhart scored for Freiburg. Once again, Streich’s team came to the aid of corners and free kicks. No one in the Bundesliga has scored more goals from standard positions. The return of Vincenzo Grifo to the squad after an injury was particularly welcome.

The team scored 13 goals in 19 Bundesliga rounds and conceded 18.

However, the players from Freiburg are very unlucky in Dortmund and over the last 22 years they managed to get only one draw in official meetings there, losing on all other occasions.

However, in case of failure in Dortmund, the Breisgau Brazilians will certainly return to the UEFA Conference League zone.

The club has no personnel losses before this meeting.

What has been said before the match:

Borrussia’s coach Edin Terzic said on the press conference before the fixture with Freiburg:

“It will be an intense game that will be tight again. But we are ready. Three wins will not be enough to achieve our goals. Training during the week was very intense. That is the performance culture that we want.”

Talking about the opponents:

“The game against Wolfsburg was the first after the winter break. After that, they played great games against Frankfurt and Augsburg. They showed the right reaction.”

“I was impressed by how they handled it. They stayed in their system the whole game because they believed in it. Even with a 0:5 deficit, they continued to do everything as if it were 0:0.”

Freiburg coach Christian Streich is looking forward to the game:

“We have to be present, we have to be brave. I am confident that we can stand up to Dortmund, use our opportunities and bring our quality onto the pitch.”

“It really annoys me when I hear that, but it’s not like I’m completely desperate, there will be better times.”

Borussia Dortmund vs SC Freiburg Prediction:

Freiburg have started to give up ground. It looks like the second half of the season will see a predictable regression to the mean from this team that surprised in the first half.

Borussia, on the other hand, have picked up momentum and scored three wins in a row. Two of them were away wins, which is very pivotal. After all, away matches are the Bumblebees’ weakness. However, they are always good at home; in their eight games in Dortmund this season, the hosts have won six games. And they have won their last three with a combined score of 12-3.

Freiburg, just like their opponents, are clearly a home team. Three of their four defeats in the Bundesliga have been on the road. Moreover, the team lost three times in their previous four away matches (1-3 to Leipzig, 0-5 to Bayern, 0-6 to Wolfsburg). Similarly, in Dortmund, not even a draw will be possible. In the first round, the Bumblebees beat Freiburg 3-1 at home. And in their last two home encounters, they thrashed their opponents 5-1 and 4-0. BVB will prevail this time too.
