Borussia are on the heels of Bayern, 3 points are needed to keep the pressure on. Will Oliver Glasner's men be able to stop them for the sake of Eurocups 23/24?

Borussia Dortmund will host Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga 29th-tour match at Signal Iduna Stadium. The fixture will take place on Saturday, April 22, beginning at 22:00 IST.

What can we expect this Saturday night? Parimatch News will tell you everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming match.

Borussia Dortmund News & Current Form:

Borussia Dortmund continue to compete with FC Bayern Munich for the league title. BVB are currently second in the German Bundesliga table with 57 points. After 28 rounds, the team from Dortmund are two points behind the leader and five points ahead of third-placed FC Union Berlin

They will certainly be able to hold onto second place, but their fight for the gold medals is unlikely to be successful. It should be recalled that Borussia won their last title in 2012. In the last ten seasons, the gold medal went to Bayern.

Edin Terzic’s side have scored 62 goals and conceded 39 this season. The team also recently dropped out of the UEFA Champions League, losing to Chelsea FC, and out of the DFB-Pokal, losing to RB Leipzig.

Dortmund had a great chance to compete for Bundesliga gold medals but failed to take advantage of it. First, they lost points in the derby against FC Schalke 04 (2 – 2), and then they lost their first leg to Bayern (2 – 4) in a head-to-head encounter. The apogee was a 3 – 3 draw against VfB Stuttgart in the last round. In the course of the match, Dortmund led 2 – 0 against their ten-man opponents.

Edin Terzic explained why Borussia blew the win against their opponents:

“It’s hard to choose words after something like that. We thought we had already gone through the worst of the season, but today disproved everything. The only thing that could have prevented us from winning was a breach of playing discipline. And so it happened. If you rely only on your partner, don’t support each other and avoid responsibility, everything can go wrong.”

The Dortmund side have an impressive 8-match winning streak at home, with BVB not scoring less than two goals in that stretch. Moreover, Terzic’s side have won 11 home games in this Bundesliga season, and they lead the league in this regard. The Dortmund side also beat Eintracht 2 – 1 in their first-round encounter.

In the upcoming meeting, the participation of key defensive players Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck is questionable, which could seriously hamper the team’s chances of getting their 3 points. Julien Duranville and Thomas Meunier will not participate in the game 100%.

Let’s talk about transfer news now. There have been many rumors as to which club young star Jude Bellingham will move to, with all the big-name teams claiming him. But perhaps the player will stay in the Bundesliga for another season. The midfielder does not want to agree to a transfer that would not be completely right for him.

A player of Borussia Dortmund of 11 years stay – Felix Passlack leaves the club in the summer

It has been decided that BVB defender Felix Passlack will join VfL Bochum 1848 in the summer. He was a player for Dortmund for 11 years. Felix thanked staff and fans for sharing these 11 years together:

“I would like to thank all my coaches, teammates, the people in charge, the employees, and the fans for the time we have spent together at BVB since 2012. Everyone has played their part in making me the person I am today and in me being the player that I am.”

“I will always carry this long, wonderful time in my heart. I’m grateful for unforgettable moments and hope to be able to take the next sporting step in Bochum from the summer onwards. Until the end of the season, I’ll give everything for Borussia Dortmund.”

Eintracht Frankfurt News & Current Form:

The team from Frankfurt am Main continue their fight for the European place. The Eagles are currently seventh in the German league table, with 42 points. Eintracht are two points behind sixth-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen, but nine points separate them from the Champions League zone. Such is the gap to fourth-placed RB Leipzig.

One of the main reasons for the decline in form is unstable play in front of their own goal. With a classy attack (xG = 1.53) led by Randal Kolo Muani, Eintracht make too many mistakes in defense (xGA = 1.28). In this encounter, there may be even more due to the possible absence of key defender Evan Ndicka.

In the Bundesliga, Oliver Glasner’s side have managed 49 goals and conceded 41. But Frankfurt have been winless in the German championship for two months. Last round, Eintracht suffered a 1 – 1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach and extended their winless streak to seven games (four draws, three defeats). But the team successfully continues their fight in the German Cup, where they recently passed Union and will play against Stuttgart in the semi-finals.

The Eagles took 17 of their 42 points on the road in the current league campaign, and the team suffers from poor play in defense as they have conceded in every meeting in this Bundesliga season on foreign soil.

Player of Eintracht Frankfurt Daichi Kamada will leave the team in the summer

It is now certain that Daichi Kamada will leave Eintracht at the end of the season. The club have announced that the Japanese midfielder will leave for free in the summer transfer window. His contract is expiring and will not be renewed.

Kamada has played for the club since 2017. He has played 170 matches for this team in all competitions, with 37 goals and 31 assists.  It was previously reported that Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona and Atletico were interested in signing the 26-year-old.

What has been said before the match:

BVB coach Edin Terzic about the opponent and his team’s state:

“At the moment Eintracht Frankfurt are in a results crisis, but the performances are still good. In the first leg, we saw their qualities. We have to go into the game with greed and a dose of anger to win the encounter.”

“If we want to be successful, we all have to be willing to go the extra mile. We have to invest everything to take advantage of our starting position. To do that, we need a home win on Saturday.”

“There are still six games left. We want to grab this opportunity with everything we have to make it happen. We have to show that on the pitch on Saturday.”

“Borussia are closer to the title now than in any of the past seasons. We must do everything we can to take advantage of that. To do that, it is necessary that each of us give our best, and we should start already with the upcoming match.”

The Eagles coach Oliver Glasner ahead of the Bundesliga clash:

”Dortmund are a very good team who had an incredible run to kick off 2023. Their performances have been more up and down recently. They’ve got a lot of quality, but despite all that, it’s about time we got a win again!”

“My team has shown in the past that they can stand up and be counted even when people are least expecting it. We’re capable of getting a win in Dortmund.”

Chris Lenz is experienced, he’s a leader and he’s played for a number of years in the Bundesliga. He’ll start on the left side of central defense again.”

He also talked about Kamada:

“He’s very committed, but he lacks the natural finishing flair that he had in the autumn. Of course, we wish he would get back to that efficiency. He’s also trying insanely hard to get there, but it’s just not working out the way he and we would like it to.”

Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction:

Borussia have been victorious against Frankfurt in 10 of their last 11 home games in the Bundesliga. Given the teams’ results in previous matches, Eintracht’s chances of improving this statistic are slim. The Bumblebees have been continuously collecting wins at Signal Iduna Park (11 wins in 13 games – the best result in the league), showing some productive and convincing football (2.9 goals scored on average). They will delight their fans in a match against Oliver Glasner’s team, who are underperforming on the road (only 4 victories in 14 matches with 1.8 conceded on average).
