David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis have been recalled in the 16-member Australian squad for the upcoming two-match T20I series against the West Indies in Queensland.

All these four major players were missing the recently concluded T20I series in India. Warner was given rest while Starc, Stoinis and Marsh had knee, side strain and ankle problems respectively.

The all-rounder Cameron Green who had scored a couple of half-centuries in India has also been added in the squad. Meanwhile, the left-arm spinner, Ashton Agar and the pace bowler, Kane Richardson have also been rested.

The Australian National Selection Panel Chair George Bailey said:

“We have and are taking a cautious approach with the World Cup on the near horizon.

To have four key players return gives us the ability to take a conservative path with any minor issues and resolve those well in time for the World Cup. As such we anticipate Kane and Ashton will return for the following series against England.”

After playing the two-match T20I series against West Indies at the Carrara Oval and Gabba on October 5 and 7, Australia is set to take on England in a three-match T20I series in Perth and Canberra. Before the start of T20 World Cup campaign, Australia will also play a practice match at the Gabba on October 17.
