Suryakumar Yadav has been on a rapid rise in international cricket

India’s batting star Suryakumar Yadav has moved past Pakistan captain Babar Azam to rise to the third spot in the rankings for batsmen in T20 international whereas Australia’s Josh Hazlewood remained at the top spot for bowlers after a two wicket burst in the opening T20 I against India at Mohali on Tuesday.

The swashbuckling right-handed batsman Suryakumar Yadav has witnessed a steep rise in his fortunes as far as the rankings in the shortest format is concerned.

Suryakumar Yadav is now only 45 points behind the top ranked Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan who is in rich form at the moment, while the Indian is just 12 points behind South Africa’s Aiden Markram who is at the second spot.

In their most recent outings, all these three batsmen — Suryakumar Yadav, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan — were among runs on Tuesday. While Mohammed Rizwan scored 68 and 46 balls, Babar Azam signalled returned to form with a 24-ball 31 whereas Suryakumar Yadav dazzled with a stroke full 46 of 25 balls against Australia in the first T20 at Mohali which India lost despite scoring more than 200 batting first.

The competition will get intense in the coming days as both India and Pakistan have plenty of assignments lined up ahead. Pakistan are currently involved in and in a seven match T20 series against England, who are visiting after a gap of 17 years.

On the other hand, India will be playing a total of six T20 internationals – three each — against Australia and South Africa — before flying over to Australia for the T20 World Cup starting on October 16.

In the same contest between India and Australia, Hardik Pandya, who top scored from either team with a sensational 71 not out from just 30 balls, moved as many as 22 positions to reach number 65 whereas all-rounder Akshar Patel, who was superb with the ball taking 3/17 in his four overs, rose as many as 24 positions to reach at the 33rd spot.

Among the bowlers, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood remained at the top spot after he returned with an impressive spell of 4-0-39-2 in a contest where other bowlers of the side were plundered for runs.
