Naseem Shah gets infected by a viral infection, the 19-year-old has been taken to the hospital immediately and his participation in the remaining T20Is will depend on his medical assessment.

Pakistan’s highly rated teenage fast bowler Naseem Shah was taken to the hospital with a viral infection and he will miss the fifth T20I against England on Wednesday, confirmed a cricket board person.

His availability for the remaining matches will depend on the medical assessment report.

“Naseem was taken to hospital on Tuesday night with a viral infection and will not be available for Wednesday’s match,”

a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman said.

A source close to the team said that the Tests for dengue has been carried out as the mosquito-borne infection has been viral in the city last month with thousands of cases being reported every day.

It added that Naseem Shah had been complaining of chest pain and fever since Tuesday after the team reached Lahore from Karachi to play the remaining three matches of the series. 

The young pacer played a single match in the series in which he conceded 41 runs in his wicketless four overs spell. 

England and Pakistan are currently tied at 2-2 after four matches in Karachi. The remaining three matches are set to be played at Lahore.

England are on their tour of Pakistan after 17 long years. Both Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have been named in the T20 World Cup squad for Pakistan.
