Mehidy Hasan is mentioned in the all-format contract for Bangladesh

Mehidy Hasan is one of only four Bangladesh players to receive an all-format central contract for 2023 after a string of excellent performances across formats

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was awarded an all-format BCB contract for the period of January to December 2023 as a result of his consistent performance throughout 2022.

While Mushfiqur Rahim and Shoriful Islam, who had full contracts in 2022, now have one fewer format in their portfolio, he joins Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, and Taskin Ahmed on the list of players with all-format contracts.

Shoriful Islam has an ODI and T20I deal, while Mushfiqur, who retired from T20Is last year, now has a Test and ODI contract. The only other players in this group are Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur, both of whom have contracts for both Tests and ODIs.

Mehidy Hassan previously only had a contract for Tests and ODIs, but he excelled in all three formats and was promoted as a result. He played 29 games in all forms, scoring 637 runs at 24.50, and taking 59 wickets at 30.55 with his offspin.

With 330 runs at 66 and 24 wickets at 28.20, he was especially productive in ODIs, winning Player of the Series in a match against India in December. Later on in that tour, in the Dhaka Test, he captured a second-innings five-for to carry India all the way in a pursuit of 145.

Thirteen Test cricketers have received central contracts from the BCB overall, one fewer than in the previous year. Along with Mominul Haque, Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hossain, and Khaled Ahmed, Zakir Hasan was handed a contract that was only for Test matches.

In contrast to Najmul Hossain Shanto and Nurul Hasan, who were promoted to contracts covering Tests and T20Is, Mahmudullah was given a single-format deal and was dropped from T20Is. Newcomers Hasan Mahmud and Mosaddek Hossain were given T20I-only contracts among the bunch.

Shadman Islam, Yasir Ali, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, and Mohammad Naim, on the other hand, had no place in any category.

Zakir and Mahmud received rewards for their improvements from the prior year, according to Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the BCB’s cricket operations. The board is hoping that Joy, who made a name for himself in the early months of 2022, will step it up a notch to land a contract next year.

Zakir Hasan and Hasan Mahmud were rewarded for their performance from last year. Hasan Mahmud did well last year. We are encouraging fast bowlers,”

Yunus said

“We have always noticed Zakir Hasan’s improvement through his time in the High Performance squads. His hundred against India definitely showed that he has the guts and ability.

We tried Mahmudul Hasan Joy a lot last year. It is not a discouragement, but we want him to earn back the place. We are not discarding him. He can come back, but he has to work hard. Non-contract players are obviously available for selection.”

The BCB did not divulge the players’ salary, as is customary, but ICC knows that all 21 cricketers would receive a little increase in their monthly income this year.

It is also improbable that the BCB did not raise the match fees, considering these are generally raised every two years, and a raise was due this year.
