"In-home conditions, I think we're consistent but we lack improvement in away conditions. Many of the players are still young and inexperienced and will have to be given time," Mahmudullah says.

Mahmudullah, Bangladesh T20I skipper says that he does not look back at the Test loss against West Indies and he has urged the management to give the openers enough time ahead of the three-match T20I series against West Indies.

Having made a lot of changes at their opening spot, Bangladesh could not find much success and they will be eyeing to cover that spot permanently.

Mahmudullah, Bangladesh T20I skipper says that he does not look back at the Test loss against West Indies and he has urged the management to give the openers enough time ahead of the three-match T20I series against West Indies.

The openers were having a tough time and giving them a long-term chance will be beneficial for preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

“Munim (Shahriar) is still new and Bijoy (Anamul) is just coming in. They will have to be given the right opportunity and at the same time, I and the team management must ensure that they can play with peace of mind and correctly get their opportunities,”

Mahmudullah said on Saturday ahead of the opening T20I against the hosts.

“In-home conditions, I think we’re consistent but we lack improvement in away conditions. Many of the players are still young and inexperienced and will have to be given time,”

he added.

“In T20Is, you have very little time in the game, so you need to be very much aware of the conditions that will be provided. The game sense has to be applied. Our motto will be to be very positive and aggressive at the same time,”

he said.

Bangladesh recently got clean-swept by the hosts in the two-match Test series that they recently concluded. However, the white-ball skipper says that he is not concerned about the result in the Test series and it will have no impact on the coming games.

“I think it’s a different ball game now. A red ball is different from white-ball cricket. So we’re keeping the red ball issues aside and trying to focus on our T20 games as we’re preparing for the World Cup as well. So it will be a very good opportunity to play the West Indies on their home soil and we’re looking forward to it,”

said Mahmudullah, adding that he is confident with the available depth in the tournament.

“Shakib is there, Liton too. Me, Afif, Sohan, and Mosaddek are there. Sheikh Mahedi too. I think we’ve got very good batting depth and our bowling attack is good with variety.”

Mahmudullah added that they will take benefit from the fact that the last time they played in Dominica; they had beaten West Indies in the T20Is.

“I was talking to Shakib while traveling on the bus to arrive here. When we entered the dressing room, we were recalling how we played and won during that tour.

“It feels good to think about it but that was a long time ago. It’s a new venue for us and we’ve to be mentally ready to have that adapt,”

he concluded.
