Jonathan Wells guides Strikers home against Melbourne Stars, Rashid Khan shines in farewell match

The Strikers scored 150/5 in 19 overs in response Stars total of 149/7 in 20 overs in the farewell game of Rashid Khan, with Jonathan Wells guiding Stars home in match 36 at Adelaide Oval.

The Stars made 149/7 in 20 overs after winning the toss earlier today with Nic Maddinson’s blistering knock of 48* (34). Rashid Khan picked-up 2/29 in 4 overs and also took a catch in his final match.

Andre Fletcher was the first man out for Stars, caught by Ryan Gibson in the ball of Wes Agar after smashing two sixes on 12.

Nick Larkin was going steady with Stoinis after Rashid Khan picked them both. Larkin bowled out on a tricky ball before Maxwell pushed an easy catch to put Khan on a hattrick.

Marcus Stoinis 31 (47) including four fours and three sixes before getting caught by Jake Weatherald off Wes Agar before he was dropped by Jono Wells.

Things started trembling when Hilton Cartwright was caught on 2 by Alex Carey off Harry Conway. 

Mark Waugh hit some powerful shots for Stars after Seb Gotch got caught by Khan on 11 off Worrall which put Stars on 111-6 with 2 overs to be bowled.

Worall struck again and this time Adam Zampa bowled out on 1.

Maddinson took all the load with unbeaten 48 to give Stars a reasonable total, with two sixes in the last two balls.

While chasing. Matt Renshaw was the first on the list from Strikers to get out on 9 off  Sam Rainbird, caught by Nick Larkin.

Phil Salt hit four boundaries to score 22 off 31 balls before getting caught by Maxwell in the deep by Liam Hatcher.

Alex Carey pushed the bash boast point on 21 after reverse sweeping on the ball of Adam Zampa and getting caught by Maddinson.

Jake Weatherald smashed a four and a six to score a quick 19 before Zampa struck again in the powerplay to get Stars back on the track.

Jono Wells hit crucial 36 including two fours and two sixes before getting caught by Larkin on the ball of Haris Rauf.

Rashid Khan (4) and Ryan Gibson (22) were there to witness the winning moments against Melbourne Stars, who lost their sixth match of the season.
