B Sai Sudharsan scored an unbeaten 62 as Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 contest played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday night.

After restricting Delhi Capitals to a moderate total of 162/8 in their 20 overs, Gujarat Titans produced yet another superb batting performance as their impact substitute and left-handed young batsmen B Sai Sudharsan played a match winning knock for his team.

It was the second consecutive victory for defending champions Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League competition as they had earlier defeated Chennai Super Kings in the first match of the competition on March 31 in their home ground Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The toss was won by Gujarat Titans who invited Delhi Capitals to bat first. Mohammad Shami began with an impressive spell at the start as the Indian bowler dismissed Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw for 7 and also got rid of the dangerous Australian batsmen in the Delhi camp Mitchell Marsh for just 4 runs.

The captain of Delhi Capitals team, David Warner, had a tough time in the middle as the left-handed batsman could make only 37 runs from 32 balls with the help of 7 boundaries but could not get to a half century which was required for his team. On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan scored 30 from 34 balls with just 2 boundaries as he also struggled to get momentum for his team.

Alzarri Joseph came close to taking a hat-trick when he dismissed Rilee Rossouw and Warner on two consecutive deliveries but could not complete the third wicket as Abhishek Porel played it safely on the leg side.

However, the struggle continued for Delhi Capitals whose batsmen could not make a strong mark on the match. Akshar Patel played his role extremely well making 36 runs from 22 balls with 3 sixes and two boundaries to help Delhi Capitals reach 162/8 in their 20 overs.

The Gujarat Titans opening batsman Wriddhiman Saha scored 14 and hit two fours and a six while Shubman Gill also made an identical score of 14 before South Africa fast bowler Anrich Nortje dismissed both these batsmen.

However, B Sai Sudharsan batted extremely well at the third spot to make 62 not out from 48 balls with four boundaries and two sixes to guide his team to a important win on Tuesday night in the national capital.

Gujarat Titans Captain Hardik Pandya could make only five runs but Vijay Shankar played a crucial innings of 29 from 23 balls hitting three boundaries whereas South Africa senior batsman and one of the most important players in the Gujarat Titans batting line-up, David Miller made 31 not out from 16 balls with two sixes and two fours to help his team win the second consecutive match in IPL 2023 competition.

Among the bowlers, Mohammed Shami took three wickets for 41 runs while Rashid Khan also impressed once again, taking three wickets for 31 runs to help their side record an impressive show on the field.
