Akash Singh has played for Nagaland and Rajasthan in the Indian domestic cricket.

In order to address the problem of growing list of injured bowlers in their camp, Chennai Super Kings have signed up the Nagaland and former Rajasthan Royals left-arm fast bowler Akash Singh in place of their injured left-arm seamer Mukesh Chaudhary and of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Chennai Super Kings, according to ESPNcricinfo, or already without the services of their talented New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson who is recovering from a back injury and is not available for the entire IPL 2023 season.

At the same time, Chennai Super Kings will also be waiting for the Sri Lankan bowling pair of Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana to join the squad which will be possible only after April 8, since these two players are available for their national side during their tour of New Zealand.

The left-arm fast bowler Mukesh Chaudhary had an impressive last season for Chennai Super Kings as he emerged as the joint highest wicket taker for the four-time title winners, taking 16 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 9.31. For the left-arm fast bowler, 11 of those wickets came in the powerplay which was the joint most for any bowler across all 10 teams in the competition.

The report added that Nagaland fast bowler Akash Singh, who has also played for Rajasthan Royals in the past, will be joining Chennai Super Kings at his base price of Rs.20 lakh. The young player so far has played 9020 matches picking up seven wickets at an economy rate of 7.87.

He also made his T20 debut for Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy in 2019 before appearing for India under 19 team which finished as the runner-up in the 2020 World Cup in South Africa.

Akash Singh will join the likes of specialist bowlers Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Sisanda Magala, Matheesha Pathirana, Simarjeet Singh, Prashant Solanki and Maheesh Theekshana in the list of specialist bowlers on the roster of Chennai Super Kings.

Akash Singh then moved from Rajasthan to Nagaland ahead of the 2022-23 season in search of regular opportunities in domestic cricket, something that has been the core reason why players like Arjun Tendulkar have also had to leave their home state. The son of legendary cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar left Mumbai to play for Goa along with his other teammates, including the high-profile former captain Aditya Tare.

In IPL 2023, Arjun Tendulkar will play for the most successful franchise Mumbai Indians.

The IPL 2023 competition will start on Friday with the defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on the Chennai Super Kings led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again, who is believed to be appearing in a final season for the four-time title winners in the yellow jersey.
