Biography

Umesh Kumar Tilak Yadav is an Indian cricketer who represents the nation at the international stage. At the domestic level, the player plays for the Vidarbha cricket team. He was born on 25 October 1987 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Umesh is a right-arm-fast-medium bowler and is the first player from the Vidarbha region to represent India in Test cricket.

He became the highest wicket-taker for India in Cricket World Cup 2015. He is also the highest wicket-taker who took the maximum number of wickets for India in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2012. In the 2015 IPL auction, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) bought Umesh Yadav for a whopping amount of 5.5 crores. However, Umesh managed to take wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 9.00.

In the Indian Premier League 2012, Yadav made a comeback by becoming the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He took 19 wickets from 17 matches. Currently, Umesh is playing with Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore.

His father was a coal-miner, and to feed his family, he tried to enter the Police force and Army. After several attempts when teenaged Umesh Yadav could not take his place in any government job, he turned to cricket to make both ends meet. Tanya Wadhwa, who is a fashion designer by profession, is the wife of Umesh Yadav.
