One of America’s finest tennis players, John Isner, has said he will miss the Australian Open due to COVID-19.

Isner, 35, explained his decision on Monday. The athlete wants his family to travel with him to make as many memories as possible along the way. He also added that this year it is simply not possible due to the global pandemic.

John Isner lost to fellow American Sebastian Corda 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the quarter-finals of Monday’s Delray Beach Open.

The Australian Open is scheduled to take place from 8 to 21 February, three weeks later than originally planned.

Previously, the Grand Slam was supposed to take place on January 18, however, the timeline was updated last month due to COVID-19 restrictions.
