с

Australian Open 2023 culminated on a spectacular note for the Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic winning his 10th Australian Open title at the iconic Rod Laver Arena. After being deported last season, he came back with some enormous power to lift the trophy this time.

The champion player defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the men’s singles final once again to script history. In the women’s singles, Aryna Sabalenka won her Grand Slam title in three sets after defeating Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.

Let us take a look at the final matches:

Men’s Singles

Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

History was created by Novak Djokovic as he won his 10th Australian Open title on Sunday. He outclassed the Greek player 6-3, 7-6, and 7-6 to register a phenomenal victory in Melbourne. With his remarkable achievement, he has now equalled Rafael Nadal’s 22 Grand Slam crowns and once again returned to the number one ranking.

Djokovic was technically brilliant with his game as he was not giving away easy points to his opponent, also Tsitsipas never looked to threaten the Serbian in any part of the battle. After an easy first set, the current world number did not take much time to become champion once again.

Women’s Singles

Elena Rybakina vs Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka came back brilliantly in the battle after being down in the first set against Rybakina. She defeated Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, and 6-4 to emerge victorious in the game that lasted two and a half hours. But, credit should be given to the Kazakhstani player with the way she played throughout.

On the other hand, this was Sabalenka’s one of the best performances in the tournament and with this stupendous effort, she became the first player to claim a Grand Slam title as a neutral at the Australian Open. This was Sabalenka’s 11th straight victory of the year which means the Belarusian has returned to the second spot in the current rankings.

Men’s Doubles

Rinky Hijikata/Jason Kubler vs Hugo Nys/Jan Zielinski

Unstoppable Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler were phenomenal in the finals as they defeated the pair of Nys and Zielinski to win the title. They won 6-4 and 7-6 to shock everyone with their splendid game.

Playing together for the first time, both cut a swathe through the men’s doubles draw. The victory would have been on the top for years as the duo knocked off three top-10 seeds including top-ranked Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in the quarters.

Women’s Doubles

Katerina Siniakova/Barbora Krejcikova vs Ena Shibahara/Shuko Aoyama

Victory in straight sets for Siniakova and Krejcikova against the Japanese duo is what makes them the best pair. It was the seventh Grand Slam doubles title for the Czech pair and they did that in style by winning 6-4 and 6-3. It was their second straight Australian Open title, also the pair was victorious in Wimbledon and US Open as well last year.

With the kind of form they are in, they would look to unsettle many pairs in the upcoming Grand Slams.

Mixed Doubles

Rohan Bopanna/Sania Mirza vs Luisa Stefani/Rafael Matos

Sania Mirza’s farewell game couldn’t go her way as the legendary Indian tennis player had to suffer a defeat in her last-ever grand slam match. Mirza and her partner Rohan Bopanna lost to the Brazilian pair of Stefani and Matos 6-7 and 2-6.

The whole finale proved to be a tricky one for the Indian duo as Rohan Bopanna produced many unforced errors near the net that eventually led to the downfall.

On the other hand, Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos were stupendous throughout the tournament and this win was their maiden Grand Slam title. The duo would look to achieve more with three more grand slams still to be played in this calendar year.
