For first time ever, no six was hit at this iconic cricket venue

Rishabh Pant scored 51 for Delhi against Rajasthan on Thursday

Delhi Capitals had a forgettable outing with the bat against Rajasthan Royals in the Match No 7 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 tournament at the Wankhede cricket Stadium in Mumbai. After losing the toss, Delhi Capitals were asked to bat by Rajasthan Royals and their bowlers produced a special performance to keep last year’s IPL finalists to a modest total of 147/8 in their 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals took the field on Thursday night with as many as three left-arm fast bowlers in their ranks in Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman and Jaydev Unadkat. The senior most bowler among these three, Unadkat ran riots in the Delhi ranks as he got rid of the top three batsmen, the cream of the Delhi batting line-up.

Prithvi Shaw was dismissed for 2, Shikhar Dhawan was removed for 9 and Ajinkya Rahane’s stay was ended when he was batting on 8 as the Saurashtra and India fast bowler Unadkat gave Rajasthan Royals the bragging rights early on in the contest.

Despite a fightback from Rishabh Pant, with the Delhi Capitals captain scoring a 32-ball 51, Rajasthan Royals were able to keep a tap on the Delhi batsmen. While they were able to keep the opposition under the score of 150, Rajasthan Royals also forced Delhi into making an unwanted record with a bat.

This is for the first time in the history of IPL cricket tournament that not a single six was hit during a match at the Wankhede stadium, which is known for its support towards batsmen as well as fast bowlers with favourable bounce and pace.

The only Delhi batsmen who could have possibly troubled Rajasthan Royals bowlers was Pant, who led a spirited fightback after his side lost the top three batsmen but his resistance was ended by the brilliance of Riyan Parag. Pant smacked 9 fours but not even a single six for which she is known for as Delhi Capitals ended up creating an unwanted batting record on Thursday.
