Chris Gayle reacts to PBKS’ victory “We wanted this badly”

IPL
PBKS won the match against MI by 9 wickets

It was a clear case of desperation, never say attitude & the need to win the game from Punjab Kings’ side. PBKS looked in form, they were calm, composed & they knew what they were doing. With 9 wickets in hand, they defeated the top rated team of IPL Mumbai Indians. Punjab clearly needed this win to increase their points in the table & to revive their image for their fans.

It was the most watched player Chris Gayle who played his part in Friday’s match against MI. Gayle & skipper KL Rahul remained not out till the end & helped Punjab to win the match. The former scored 43 on 35 balls & the later scored 60 on 52 balls. They both constantly rotated, strikes remained on the pitch like a wall.

Chris Gayle said in a chat with Arshdeep Singh that he was quite happy with the way his team played and was relieved to win a game after losing three in a row.

“I’m feeling relieved to be honest, we wanted this one badly. We knew playing against the defending champions is always going to be tough, they played 4 games here (in Chennai) already. To actually get this win is fantastic for the team and for the Universe Boss as well,”

Chris Gayle told Arshdeep in a candid chat for iplt20.com.

Gayle also appreciated the skipper by saying

“Our captain played a fantastic innings, we always said we need a set batter on this wicket. And to actually ease the pressure off him and to finish the game, I thought he did a brilliant job from a batting point of view. Mayank and the captain set the tone and made it a bit easier,”

Punjab will be up against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next fixture on Monday evening.
