South African pacer, Anrich Nortje who was playing for DC in IPL 2021 has come out positive for Covid-19 ahead of DC’s second game against RR.

South African import, Anrich Nortje has tested positive for Covid-19. The right-arm pacer was in the middle of quarantine and was expected to join the training session alongside Kagiso Rabada on April 14th for IPL 2021.

Now he has to go through an isolation period of 10 days and return two negative results of Covid-19 before joining the bubble again.

There is no news yet who confirmed the days in which he caught the virus. Earlier, there was news about Nitish Rana and Devdutt Padikkal who tested positive for the virus and later their franchises revealed that they contracted the virus earlier.

Sources in the verified department have cleared that Anrich Nortje who has already started his quarantine period had come out negative at first but in the other test his result came out positive for Covid-19 in the middle of isolation.

“He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine,”

said the source as quoted by India Today.

Anrich Nortje, Quinton de Kock, David Miller and Kagiso Rabada were the players who played their part in the ODI series against Pakistan.

They left their country after the second ODI. De Kock played for MI against KKR on Tuesday while Nortje and Rabada were expected to play for DC against RR.

However, the latest reports have not only shown the results of Nortje but also stated that Rabada is asymptomatic at the moment and any decision on his inclusion will be made further after the test results.

Both the pacer travel together from South Africa to India and it is expected that their isolation period will increase.

As for DC, it is a huge blow for them as they were expecting to play with both the attackers in the upcoming game against RR.

Meanwhile, Chris Woakes and Tom Curran will be fulfilling their replacement and the duo may get another chance to prove their worth. But DC will prefer their top two wicket-takers from IPL 2020.
