Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh hockey players have resumed their sporting activities following the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than 250 enthusiastic players aged 15 – 21 have resumed sports activities in Uttar Pradesh, following MHA guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Players are focusing on core drills and slowly and steadily regaining their feet after nearly six months of inactivity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has led to a series of nationwide lockdowns.

“It’s good to see the players come back to the field after almost six months. Staying off the pitch for a long time is difficult for any athlete. Since the MHA guidelines have allowed the resumption of sporting activities, we are encouraging players to return to basic activities

The SOPs and guidelines provided by Hockey India are very detailed and easy to understand for coaches and players as well. We have made sure that this is implemented in all the major districts where hockey camps have resumed”

The players and coaches of the Member State Unit, who are currently preparing for their next national tournament – a state-level championship, are following all the necessary protocols provided to them by Hockey India.

Rakesh Katyal, President of Uttar Pradesh Hockey, said:

“We are extremely happy that sporting activities have resumed our state. We have been preparing for the resumption of sporting activities for many months. Therefore we are delighted that the UP players have a chance to return to the field.

“We hope the players will get back to their top form in time for us to host the state championships. We are very thankful to Hockey India for thinking about the future and for putting the procedures in place very early on so that the players can come back to the field without any obstacle”
