“It looked like Indian cricket had lost him,” says Gavaskar on SRH pacer
Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar heaped all the praise on T Natarajan, saying that the SunRisers Hyderabad has gained their confidence in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after overcoming their injury setbacks.
T Natarajan who was bought by SunRisers Hyderabad for INR 4 crore in the IPL auction, is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the league so far with 15 wickets in hand in just 7 matches.
Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar heaped all the praise on T Natarajan, saying that the SunRisers Hyderabad has gained their confidence in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after overcoming their injury setbacks and he has a fair chance of coming back for the Indian team.
His comments came after the left-arm pacer starred for SRH in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday. Natarajan returned with the figures of 3/10 in four overs as SRH bowled out RCB for just 68 runs, which is the lowest in IPL so far.
“We all know that yorkers are his specialty but he held the ball back well. It’s good to see him back because for some time it looked like Indian cricket had lost him. It’s good to have him back in contention. I am pretty sure, with the way he bowls between the 16th and the 20th over, he will be very much in contention,”Gavaskar said during the mid-innings show on official broadcasters Star Sports.
The legendary cricketer added that Natarajan is setting their eyes on the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
“Last year, perhaps, he wasn’t on top of his game. Right now, he is full of confidence. He has had his share of injuries but he is fresh and raring to go. He recognizes that a World Cup is coming up, he wants to be on that flight to Australia,”he said during the post-match show.
After Natarajan’s exploits, SRH chases down the target of 69 with nine wickets and 12 overs to spare. SRH has won five of its seven games to stand among the top four in the IPL points table.
