Former Indian batter Aakash Chopra says that India should be ready for the fact that Ravindra Jadeja will not be a wicket-taking option in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
Aakash Chopra, a Former Indian batter says that India should be ready for the fact that Ravindra Jadeja will not be a wicket-taking option in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
Jadeja is part of the 15-member squad for Asia Cup 2022 and is likely to feature in the T20 World Cup in Australia. Analyzing the spin options for India in the World Cup, Chopra says that Jadeja is no doubt a complete package and will surely make his place in the playing XI.
However, the former cricketer also feels that Jadeja might struggle in getting wickets on Australian soil later this year.
“Ravindra Jadeja, as good as he is, he will also bat and field, he is a package and is definitely seen playing in the XI, but he is not your wicket-taker. So don’t expect that he will suddenly start picking up a lot of wickets. The conditions are not going to be favorable to his bowling in any case,”Chopra said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
Chopra acknowledged that Jadeja is a match-winning player but his numbers with the ball are not very impressive lately.
“If we see his numbers, he has played seven matches since the T20 World Cup, picked up just four wickets, the average is above 43 and the economy is also close to 8.5 – it’s not great. Ravindra Jadeja will definitely play, this is both you and I know, but he will not give you too many wickets, is ready for that. The mirror does not lie,”he added.
