BCB Chief says Board will look after the structural policy of the RCA from time to time and will bring changes if there is a need for it

Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said on Monday (October 3) that they have received approval of their amended constitution from the National Sports Council which has made it ready for the beginning of the much-awaited Regional Cricket Association.

Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said on Monday (October 3) that they have received approval of their amended constitution from the National Sports Council which has made it ready for the beginning of the much-awaited Regional Cricket Association.

BCB corrected its constitution to send off the RCA during its last annual general meeting but it required approval from NSC.

“If we want to bring any amendment to our constitution we need to have an Annual General Meeting to place it (to get approval for the amended constitution by the stakeholders of the board) and later we have to obtain approval of the amended constitution from the board,”

BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters on Monday.

“We sent our amended constitution to NSC and they have approved it and now it will be considered as BCB’s constitution 2022. Apart from that during yesterday’s board meeting, we approved the policy that we want to implement regarding the RCA.

“We will form the committee very soon and that committee will see the policy that we want to adopt for RCA and if requires will recommend adding or subtracting anything from that and later we will for the committee of different regions for RCA.

“Board will look after the structural policy of the RCA from time to time and will bring changes if there is a need for it. Now with the draft policy we don’t have any obstacles to starting the RCA and we had planned for it (draft policy of RCA) for a long time and brought that policy for approval during our last AGM and now we will form the committee as soon as possible,”

he added.

The country’s divisional headquarters in Dhaka, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur, and Barisal will have RCAs while the one in Mymensingh, a newly formed division, will be run by Dhaka.

RCA is supposed to be a major step in the decentralization of cricket at administrative level and grassroots, which will essentially affect the general development of the game.

Eddie Barlow first presented the idea when he was Bangladesh’s coach in 1999-2000 to take cricket forward in the country. He formed and executes plans with which the country achieved official Test status. He also pushed for the formation of the RCA then.
