The Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2021 is scheduled to occur in New Delhi from March 30 to April 4 with government approval, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) Media said.

The tournament is a Super 500 event on the HSBC BWF World Tour and falls within the Tokyo Olympics qualifying period.

Earlier, The YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2020 was from December 8 to 13 at the Indira Gandhi International Stadium. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic epidemic, several tournaments have been suspended by the BAI.

But now, enhanced precautionary measures will be in place to ensure the well-being and safety of players, their entourage, and officials. It includes the likelihood that the tournament will take place behind closed doors without spectators.

The World Badminton Federation (BWF) and the Badminton Association of India (BAI) have confirmed the decision after BAI has consulted with experts over the past few days regarding health authorities’ advice in India.

“Significant tournaments include the YONEX Swiss Open 2020, the YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2020, the Orleans Masters 2020, the CELCOM Axiata Malaysia Open 2020, and the Singapore Open 2020, as well as several Grade 3 international tournaments.”
